Summary: In the beginning of the book Thomas wakes up in a elevator. He doesn't remember anything about his life or where he is. The elevator then stops and the doors open, the light comes in and blinds him. He sees other boys around his age, all talking and standing around. He is somewhere in a courtyard, larger than a football field. Then a kid named Alby comes towards Thomas saying he’ll give him the full tour tomorrow.
Reflection/Prediction: So far in the book, Thomas just wakes up and practically is in a middle of nowhere. And is in a strange environment but probably a normal one for the kids who are already there. Since this Alby kids showed up and said he’ll give Thomas a tour we’ll start to find out what this place really is.
